12/19/2023 0 Comments System shock 2 graphics mods![]() To simplify your future modding experience here are some useful tips on how mods should generally be ordered in the manager. do i have to resart the campaign? If you installed any mods that alter levels or game logic, then yes. –SS2 Community Patch (SCP) (drag it to the bottom of the load order in the mod manager) if i already started a campian with modds installed. –SS2 SHTUP (Shock Texture Update Project) Originally posted by 76561198017336274:–SS2Tool/Blue Mod Manager (install this first, use the mod manager it comes with to install the mods with install into your ss2.exe folder, it might not already be selected) I agree it's not DRASTIC but it's noticeable enough that the same gameplay element was carried over to the rather straightforward Dead Space, where the stores are usually in "safe places," until they're not. You could pretty much use the same rationale for a mod that switched BrawnBoosts whenever one depleted, or one that switched armor when your power armor depleted, or one that paused the game while the MFD were open. I doubt anyone has actually been sitting there clicking stuff out of the replicator chute while a gang of hybrids is rubbing their shoulders, but nonetheless the developers clearly designed this whole interface intending for you to be bogged down with inventory management while the game world continued on around you, similarly to the first game. To call this a drastic gameplay change is idiotic. This is the very definition of a QoL improvement. Originally posted by Vepar:replicator to inventory isn't QoL, it's a major gameplay design departure (the same would be "loot all" option for crates - it changes the design of the game quite drastically)Literally the only thing the Replicator to Inventory mod does is automate moving purchased items into your inventory, saving players the busywork of having to click twice for every item- once to buy it, then again to actually take it. If that was what you were after, then yes, there's plenty of that, and i'm glad you found how to install it. ![]() There's also weapons packs to be added I don't really consider visual updates as QoL, but i guess so. The texture packs make it look like it was made around 2006 instead of 1999. I found the modding guide on here and installed everything. There's nothing to improve, the game is designed like this on purpose. So idk what kind of QoL you're expecting. By the same token, every crate must be manually searched (no loot all), no pause when looking at inventory, hacking or modifying/repairing, looking at MFD, etc. Silent hill controls like crap - because you're not supposed to feel like Doom guy in it. So something you might consider QoL is that way to idk, increase tension, etc. You can improve the graphics and models with mods, but the gameplay is unchanged - and for good reason because the game was designed to be played this way.Įverything in it is intentional. But for now you're good to go.Originally posted by Vepar:Depends on what you mean by QoL?Ī few mods like stackable snacks, nothing really consequential. ![]() Of course there are many other worthwhile mods in the SS2 mods board which you might want to look at later. You now have a nicely modded game that strikes a good balance between original and new. ![]() When you are done, exit the manager and start the game as usual, all mods will stay enabled. Start Blue Mod Manager and order the mods as in the screenshot.
